Flint Michigan is a city with around 125,000 residents, but the list of basketball players who went on to Division I schools boasts some impressive names; Mateen Cleaves, Morris Peterson, Glen Rice, Charlie Bell, and Trent Tucker being among those names. Six-foot-one guard Roy Jackson is trying to add his name to the list of great Flint players. This past season, the Flint Hamady guard helped lead his team to a 15-6 record while averaging 15 points, six assists, six rebounds and four steals per game. After a busy summer, Jackson has been seeing interest in his game pick-up while continuing to work on his game. At one-hundred-sixty pounds, Jackson does need to put in some more time in the weight room and the buffet table to add some bulk to really make due at the next level. He has great quickness and the improvement in his on-the-ball defense has raised the eyebrows of those around Flint. He has a reputation as a player who is in need of work offensively, but this summer, he had multiple 25+ point games in AAU action, including a 37 points performance in Toledo, Ohio. Jackson states that Kent State, South Florida, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, St. Bonaventure, Tulsa, Central Michigan, Baylor, Eastern Kentucky, Missouri State, Western Kentucky, George Mason, Colorado, Oakland, Wright State are all actively tracking the guard. He is set to visit Kent State on September 26th for an unofficial visit. Additionally, Oakland paid a visit yesterday for an open gym and left very impressed with Jackson. |
